So another six months passed with no updates, can't even pretend that I can really do much to not blow off posting regular updates, since ultimately nothing really comes of it any... ironically in the time since I last posted, A LOT has changed.
... for about a year now I've been going to some drawing classes at a local art supply store, though I never did push myself to learn anything new there. One day, I meant a woman there who had overheard me and the art teacher talking about a Dungeons and Dragons book I brought, and somewhere in the conversation I brought up my interest in becoming a professional artist for game or film development. She recommended a nice school that's housed in the Seattle Center Armory, The Academy of Interactive Entertainment. aie.edu/
Since August I've been attending the game arts program, and to say that it's probably changed my life would be an understatement. I've already learned so much more at AIE than I could have on my own [at least without spending endless hours looking for specific resources online], and I've actually begun socializing with many more people in person than I ever had before! More than that, I've also had the opportunity to also meet artists and developers from the industry, including individuals from local companies like Wizards of the Coast and ArenaNet, both of which I'm seriously considering as potential employers when I graduate.
Through the courses I've been working on, I've without a doubt become certain that my career path will be as a 3D character artist, which I'm apparently quite good at compared to my other skill sets. While I still haven't produced a lot of note worthy works, I've also begun what I will hope will become a professional portfolio on Artstation, which I highly recommend, as it is basically the hub for professional artists from around the world. adventdestiny.artstation.com/
I'll try and post updates and works on deviantArt, but I see myself preferring to use Artstation [mainly because it will automatically post links from my Artstation posts to my Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts... putting your best work as many places as you can is the best and probably only way you'll be able to get ahead in the industry I'm quickly becoming a part of!]. Anyways, looking forward to what I will accomplish in 2018. Have a Happy New Year!
